We are like this only!

surgery amazing to be be wrinkle free
discovered zero, we are Indians you see

art of musical notations, even in 700 BC
Bihar actually had world's first universities?

Ashoka pillar, icon of tantalising metallurgy
drainage system, why just in cities of Harappa Valley?

your poem tantalizes but fails to convey any new sense.
first, i've always considered the 'we-are-like-this-only' series of skits as representative of, not an ability to laugh at our own indian selves, but a crooked way of caricaturing subaltern indians.
secondly, the theme harps on the heritage of india- a practice, i believe, that has been extremely overdone and almost never done with objectivity. india built the first hospitals(yes in bihar, magadha) in the world a full 10 centuries before the first european hospital appeared in paris. but the arabs built sophisticated hospitals of their own in cities across the desert( a few centuries after india) and this fact is better documented than the indian achievement. isn't that an indian failure? also our claim to have discovered most of what was worth discovering much before others is often supported by no substantive evidence other than the ballast of blind faith. in telugu, a prominent playwright puts in the mouth of one of his characters the words 'vedallo anni vunnayata!' meaning: everything is in the vedas, i believe!
that was a tongue-in-cheek dig(made a century and a half ago) at an indian society unwilling to accept the wisdom of other races and its unwillingness to appraise clearly its own heritage.
please, let's not indulge in any blind celebration or denunciation of our heritage without first analysing its whole(positive and negative) worth and its place in the world.
as for the structure of the poem it seems poorly constructed. i note this fact with a little disappointment considering the deft balance and crisp messages of your earlier poems like 'i am peaceful'.
i waited a few days before making a decision to write this message because i felt even negative feedback helps.

kuffir..thanks for your comment. This particular piece was a part of an exercise where we had to pick up 6 historical facts and make a poem out of it while rhyming it and giving it a touch of humour. Apparently I failed somewhere. Will try again ... some time :) ( I am a little lazy as you can see)

As to other questions raised by you - there is a reason behind the undocumented history. But it calls for a big debate. And if I had so much of energy I would rather use it to write something or paint something or just chat with someone or simply live - and as you can see, by now I would have confirmed that if one is being very kind to me then the kindest thing they could call me is that I am a nutcase!

:)
